Ouddorp Connection

Our Commitment to Nature & Community

At Ouddorp Connection, we believe that running a business also means taking responsibility for the world around us. For years, our team has been involved in different initiatives that support both the environment and our local community.

We are proud to share some of the actions we are currently supporting and developing, always with one goal in mind: to preserve the beauty of Ouddorp and its surroundings for generations to come.

Supporting KNRM  – Saving Lives at Sea

The sea is at the heart of life in Ouddorp, and with it comes the responsibility of keeping everyone safe on the water. That is why we proudly support KNRM  – the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution, a foundation that has been saving lives along the Dutch coast for more than 200 years.

Our involvement goes beyond financial sponsorship: several members of our team — and even their families — actively volunteer with KNRM, joining rescue operations, training exercises, and awareness campaigns. Their dedication reflects the true spirit of community and solidarity that we value so deeply.

As part of our commitment to giving back to the local community, we also sponsored technical jackets for all KNRM crew members, helping them stay warm and protected during their challenging rescue missions at sea.

We are proud to stand behind KNRM and to contribute to their mission of offering free, voluntary rescue services at sea. Supporting this organization reflects our deep connection to the sea and our belief that together, as a community, we can make a real difference.

Seal Sponsorship with A Seal

The Ouddorp coast is not only special for people, but also for its most endearing residents: the seals. Many of them face challenges at an early age, often found sick, injured, or separated from their mothers. That is why we proudly support the A Seal rescue center, an organization dedicated to caring for these animals and giving them a second chance at life in the wild.

As part of our collaboration, we sponsored a baby seal and contributed to her recovery journey. Under the care of the A Seal team, she received the attention, food, and medical treatment needed until she was strong enough to return to the sea. Together with our team, we had the privilege of witnessing her release back into her natural habitat — a deeply moving experience that reminded us how important it is to protect the wildlife that shares this coast with us. For us, supporting initiatives like this is a way of giving back to nature and ensuring that future generations will continue to encounter seals along our shores.

Protecting the Punt West Nature Reserve

At Punt West, we understand how unique and fragile this nature reserve is — and how essential it is to protect it. The dunes, the coastline, the wildlife, and the calm waters all form a delicate ecosystem that we are committed to preserving.

From the very beginning, sustainability guided the design of our villas. Their architecture blends naturally into the surrounding dunes, using materials and colors that respect the landscape. This approach minimizes visual impact and helps the reserve remain as untouched as possible.

Our commitment continues in the way we operate every day. We work carefully to reduce waste, avoid single-use plastics, and prevent pollution, ensuring that our housekeeping practices never harm the dunes or the waters around us. Footpaths and boardwalks help protect local vegetation, while our landscaping favors native species that support the local ecosystem.

We believe that tourism and nature can thrive together in harmony. By caring for the land and educating our guests about the importance of this unique environment, we aim to ensure that future generations can enjoy the same unspoiled beauty of Punt West that we cherish today.

Sustainable Offices with Correctbook

Our commitment to sustainability also extends to the way we work every day. In our offices, we have chosen to replace traditional paper notebooks with Correctbook, an innovative reusable and erasable notebook. This simple switch drastically reduces the amount of paper waste we generate, helping us to lower our environmental footprint in a very practical way.

But Correctbook is more than just a sustainable office tool — it is also a social project. For every notebook purchased, a portion of the proceeds goes directly to educational initiatives in developing countries, providing children with access to school materials and the chance to learn. This means that while we take notes in our daily meetings, somewhere in the world a child is being given the tools to build a better future. For us, it’s a reminder that even the smallest changes in how we work can have a double impact: protecting the environment and supporting education at the same time.

Ouddorp Connection completes BHV course – AED now available at Dorpsweg 26

Good news! The entire Ouddorp Connection team has recently completed the BHV / CPR course (including AED use) with success.
This means our staff are now trained in first aid, fire prevention and safe evacuation, so that both our guests and colleagues can always count on quick and professional assistance.

In addition, there is now an AED available at Dorpsweg 26 (our hotel). It’s installed in a clearly visible and easily accessible location and is checked regularly according to regulations.
In case of an emergency: always call 112, follow the instructions from the operator and ask a staff member to guide you to the AED.

Why this matters

  • Faster and more confident response in the event of incidents.
  • Extra safety for guests, neighbours and colleagues.
  • Professional cooperation with emergency services.

Many thanks to the trainer for the hands-on course and to our team for their dedication.
Safety comes first for us – every single day.
